WELCOME to the Village Common Children’s Center!
Established in 2003, VCCC is a non-profit Early Learning Center that is highly committed to the education and care of young children.
Our warm and cozy, family-oriented center, located in the center of Townsend, MA at Rtes. 13 and 119, offers excellent teacher/child ratios, spacious, bright classrooms, a large fenced-in playground, and creative, developmentally appropriate curriculum for children ages 8 weeks through 6 years old.
All of our programs allow parents the “peace of mind” to go about their work day knowing that their children are receiving quality care and positive learning experiences from compassionate, experienced educators in an environment that was created just for them.
Our Educational Philosophy
At VCCC we believe in providing children with a variety of experiences and materials that motivate their interests and their learning. By combining an emergent curriculum and developmentally appropriate practice we are able to explore subjects that are meaningful in the lives of the children we teach while addressing their individual needs.
Our curriculum includes a balance of free choice and spontaneous play activities, as well as structured activities facilitated by experienced teachers. Children will have the opportunity to build friendships with peers, make positive connections with teachers, and lay a solid foundation for all their future academic learning. We believe that children learn best when they are engaged in play. Their learning experiences should be joyful, fun and meaningful. We strive to ensure that we are subtly weaving all the necessary academic elements and components required for their future success in kindergarten and beyond throughout all their play experiences in order to empower them with the concept that learning is FUN!
From the youngest infant to the oldest school-ager, we strive to offer children a variety of opportunities for them to explore and learn about their world. Our activities allow for their social, physical and academic growth. We create our curriculum to also address the individual needs of each child. This means that whether your child is a visual, auditory or kinesthetic learner, our activities will engage and inspire, allowing them to learn, grow and have fun! Our hands-on, project approach keeps the children busy and active, giving them time to explore and discover through authentic interactions with their teachers and their environment.
